FALL FISHING

Delayed Harvest is in full swing here in the High Country. The delayed harvest trout waters of Watauga County and the Boone area are chock full of fish. The recent cool temps an rainfall have the trout fired up. The local guided fly fishing wade trips have been producing good numbers of healthy fish. Fly patterns for DH: the fish are into prince nymphs, pheasant tails, and soft hackles of all types. We hear reports of a squirm hatch on the lower river.

On the Watauga and South Holston tail waters the brown trout are in their pre spawn stage. That means plenty of fun fishing streamers. Sporadic hatches of BWOs have the trout looking up on the Trophy Section. Midges are still the name of the game. Call today to book a trip with your favorite Boone area fly fishing guide. Peak leaves and peak fishing are just around the corner.
