Fly Fishing Film Tour Comes to Boone

The Fly Fishing Film Tour comes to Boone at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, with a showing at the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts on the Appalachian State University campus.
Tickets are $10 and are available at online at or in person at the Schaefer Center box office, Foscoe Fishing Company and Appalachian Mountain Brewery.
The film screening is sponsored by the Appalachian State University Fly Fishing Club, Foscoe Fishing Company and Appalachian Mountain Brewery.
Doors open at 5 p.m. to allow time for patrons to wander through the lobby at the Schaefer Center, where fishing outfitters and nonprofit conservation groups will have information tables, the local band the Rubber Checks will perform and light food and drinks can be purchased at the concessions and bar area.
Local artists who work on fishing and water related artwork will be on hand to show and sell their work.
From 7 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., F3T films will be shown with a 15-minute intermission halfway through the two hours of combined films. Afterward, there will be time to talk with vendors. Doors close at the event by 10 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the ASU Fly Fishing Club, which teaches students to fly fish, appreciate, protect and restore natural cold water resources and to foster a love of the sport in others.
